The remit of Société Générale Group's Purchasing Department is the successful management of Group purchases by optimizing external expenses (by finding the best possible ratio between quality and cost) and limiting operating, financial and reputation risks.

Responsible sourcing

The Group’s Purchasing Department is in charge of suppliers relations and its remit is the successful management of Group purchases by optimizing expenses and limiting operating risks. Its teams manage functional and financial responsibilities on an international scale.The Purchasing Department guarantees to all the best possible purchase ratio among performance, quality and efficiency whilst limiting operating risk and contributing to the Group’s transformation policy. Its mission is threefold :
  • Normative i.e. help define standards, organisation and procedures entering into the purchase performance ratio of the different Group entities - in France or abroad,
  • Operational i.e. help achieve the best quality /cost ratio of goods and services necessary to meet the requirements;
  • Strategic i.e. help define the best purchase strategy for efficient sourcing and ensuring its implementation.
This policy is based on three main principles :
  • Neutrality i.e. select the proposal that best suits Group functional and technical requirements, on the basis of a process guaranteeing objectivity, fairness and transparency
  • Responsibility i.e. make corporate and social responsibility (CSR) an integral part of its day-to-day purchase activities,
  • Efficiency i.e. help improve the operating functions by looking for suppliers with innovative solutions together with an adequate level of quality and economic performance.

  • 63 purchasers in Paris and 43 overseas
  • 2,004 suppliers referenced with the Purchasing Department
  • € 5.4 billion : annual Group expenditures, excluding leases and insurance
  • 70 purchasing categories ; 49 products/services purchased have been identified with a risk factor in terms of CSR
