Société Générale's business lines serve over 12 million individual and business customers, offering financial products and services under 5 global brands.
Network of specialised financial services :
Société Générale's DSFS¹ department employs 30,000 members of staff (at end 2009) across 5 business lines and 46 countries, and generates 15% of the Group's NBI. The business lines serve close to 16 million individual and business customers, offering financial products and services under 5 global brands, both directly and via the Group's different networks and partners. The 5 business lines and brands include :
  • Long-term vehicle leasing and fleet management (ALD Automotive),
  • IT asset leasing and management (ECS Group),
  • Equipment and vendor finance (SG Equipment Finance),
  • Consumer credit (Société Générale Consumer Finance)²,
  • Life insurance and insurance against damages (Sogécap, Société Générale Insurance and Sogessur).
Priorities :
DSFS actively implements Société Générale Group's Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) policy within its different entities. The identification and reporting of best practices, extensive participation in the Group's reporting for CSR indicators, projects to replace paper resources by electronic formats and initiatives to heighten staff awareness, are all priorities for DSFS entities. The optimisation of their resources is also an opportunity to integrate best ethical and environmental practices in their Purchasing and Real Estate procedures and charters.
Highlights in 2009 :
DSFS enhanced its central governance structure in 2008 with the creation of a Resources Department in charge of guiding and supervising its business lines and subsidiaries in the optimisation of their resources and structures. The functions concerned include its purchasing, real estate management, organisation, process, quality and sustainable development departments.Several initiatives were carried out by the 5 business lines in 2009, both in France and abroad (see articles on ALD, Franfinance, Sogecap/Sogessur, ECS), in order to integrate the Group's CSR policy in the strategies and programmes of the Group's different entities. In Brazil, the different DSFS entities pursued the solidarity initiatives set in place by the Group's "Instituto Société Générale" founded in 2007.
Furthermore, as part of the Group's strategy to achieve carbon neutrality via its Carbon Plan, the business line worked to offset the residual emissions for 2009 of its subsidiary, ALD Automotive UK.
