HUMAN RESSOURCES POLICY

Société Générale’s Human Ressources policy aims to foster teamwork, new synergies and shared practices and expertise between the different Group divisions.

Core priorities of the Group's HR policy

At the end of 2009, Société Générale Group employed 156,681 members of staff in 83 countries. In this increasingly diverse environment which covers a wide variety of activities and employees from different cultural and professional backgrounds, human resources management needs to tackle a number of strategic challenges such as:
  • strengthening the Group's appeal as an employer in order to attract new talent and integrate and retain staff;
  • promoting employee development through the implementation of new Group-wide HR initiatives;
  • recognising and encouraging staff diversity and dynamism;
  • constantly adapting the Group’s managerial culture by promoting responsible behaviour and the creation of value;
  • involving employees in the Group’s development plans.
Gauging the needs and expectations of its employees and their perception of the progress made to date, as well as ensuring their real implication in the Group's future was what prompted Société Générale, for the first time in its history, to launch a global internal survey. 83,000 employees in 39 countries were asked to take part in an anonymous online questionnaire carried out by a well-known outside service provider to which more than 49,000 employees replied.
These Human Resources initiatives also aim to foster cross-business co-operation, synergies and the pooling of the various divisions’ practices and expertise.
