Specialized Financial Services (DSFS)
Société Générale's DSFS department employs 33,000 members of staff (at end 2008) across 5 business lines, 190 entities and 47 countries. The division generates 15% of the Group's NBI.The business lines serve over 12 million individual and corporate customers, offering financial products and services under 5 global brands, both directly and via the Group's different networks and partners.
The 5 business lines and brands include:
- long-term vehicle leasing and fleet management (ALD Automotive);
- IT asset leasing and management (ECS Group);
- equipment and vendor finance (SG Equipment Finance);
- consumer credit (Société Générale Consumer Finance)1;
- life insurance and insurance against damages (Sogécap, Société Générale Insurance and Sogessur);
Priorities for 2009
- active implementation of Société Générale Group's Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) policy within its different entities,
- identification and reporting of best practices, extensive participation in the Group's reporting for CSR indicators, projects to replace paper resources by electronic formats and initiatives to heighten staff awareness involving all DSFS entities,
- optimisation of resources to integrate best ethical and environmental practices in the Purchasing and Real Estate procedures and charters.
Highlights in 2008:
- central management structure enhanced with the creation of a Resources division in charge of guiding and supervising the business lines and subsidiaries in the optimisation of resources and structures. The functions concerned include the purchasing, real estate management, organisation, process, quality and sustainable development departments,
- several initiatives by the 5 business lines, both in France and abroad (see articles on ALD, Franfinance, Sogecap/Sogessur, ECS), aimed at integrating the Group's CSR policy in the strategies and programmes of the different entities.
- The creation of the Instituto Société Générale in Brazil in October 2007 reflects the strong commitment of the DSFS subsidiaries and their directors (Banco Cacique, Banco Pecunia, ALD Automotive and SGEF).
- This activity includes Société Générale's main consumer lending companies, namely Franfinance and Disponis in France, Fiditalia in Italy, Hanseatic Bank in Germany, Rusfinance in Russia, Eurobank in Poland, Eqdom in Morocco, Essox in the Czech Republic and BRD Finance in Romania. It also includes vehicle loans from Fiditalia in Italy, BDK and ALD Lease Finanz in Germany and CGI in France
