Climate Change Week at Société Générale

The 14th United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Poznan at the start of December 2008 was the ideal occasion for the Group to hold its own Climate Change Week.
Throughout the week, Société Générale staff were able to listen to and read about the debate between international experts and Group specialists on the major issues in climate change and the role and responsibilities of the banking sector (Jean Jouzel, French climatologist and member of the GIEC; Laurence Tubiana, Head of the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations in France; Nicolas Hulot, Chairman of the Nicolas Hulot Foundation for Nature and Humanity; Matthieu Wemaëre, lawyer specialised in sustainable development, Cédric Philibert from the International Energy Agency; Björn Stigson, Chairman of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development; Hugo Shorter, Advisor to the British Ambassador in France, etc.). It was also an opportunity to highlight some of the innovative initiatives set up by certain Group entities abroad. A brochure on climate change was also handed out to staff.
